Responsibility and freedom in the perspective of sufis is different from the definition that is commonly understood by other Muslim scholars (ulama). In order to be able to understand the sufis way of life more comprehensively, a certain researcher should base his theoritical foundation on the writing of the sufis directly. It is in line with this need, This article attempts at tracing the primary sources of the sufis. This article comes to the conclusion that freedom is a defining term identical with the perfection in rituals. that is a station of maqamat attained not through the motive of putting aside evil characteristics, but attained throught the blessing of well-ocuppied with godly characteristic whitin themselves. Freedom of desire in the perspective of the sufis is not in the sense of static freedom; it is rather freedom of wanting to achieve the perfection in ritual and devotion.
