The syari'ah has not been more abused, misunderstood and misrepresented than in our time. It is commonly used to justify oppresion and despotism, injustice and ebuse of power. It has been understood as an ossified body of low that has little something to do with modern time. It has been represented as an intelectually sterile body of knowledge belonging to the distant history, rather than the present and future. All this has been the hindrance of the true revival of Islam and the emergence of contemporary muslim intellectual tradition.hety.
