This article tries to explain the history of an institution called bank, both convensional and Islamic, and its role in the economic developmentof the country. Based on the historical facts, it can be concluded that the activities of bank has a long history and can be traced since along ago in the earlier of Islam, even some time before. In Islam, what was performed by Muhammad andhis disciples, which is based on the holy source [al Qur'an], is the indication of the existence of the Islamic banking system. On the other hand, the conventional bank developed its inspiration from the civilization of Sumeria, Babylon, Greek, Egypt, and Byzantium. Both systems have developed their own specific institutional processes. The different of their historical foundations should not separate each other from their prime functions, and each must give much attention for: a)bank effort to help undeveloped people againts absolute poverty;b)bank effort to own a special market share to help society,...yo.
