Chalengges of studying at a distance: Experience of the differently abled learners of IGNOU :
Ever since Otto Peters introduced the notion that Distance Education functions as an 'industrial model' of teaching and learning, practitioners and researchers have grappled with the implications of this model as it denotes access and availability of learning opportunities rather than for the individual experience of the learner. However Open Universities have tried to overcome this contradiction by developing support systems to facilitate and support the learning process. In this context it is important to survey what learners want from the institutions rather than to think solely of the provision the institutions makes for its distance learners.
